MILESTONEFOUNDER

1.0

This is 1.0.

Not "1.0, more coming next week." 1.0 as in: this is as far as I can take ChampChase on my own. No funding, no team, no resources I don't have — this is the line I can reach by myself. And I can stand here and say it's finished. Every system is alive. There's not a thing I'd change.

If it gets funded, this game gets the dress it deserves — a real artist replacing the AI art, real voice actors replacing the AI voices. Not a different game. This one, done right. But that's a maybe. This is a fact: right now, today, the thing is finished, and I'm proud of it.

I'm writing this on day four sober.

The stretch before it was a rough one — the roughest in a while. I won't dress it up. But I came out the other side, and I'll leave it there.

Here's the part that matters for this post. Through all of it, I didn't want it to be a total waste of life. I wanted to come out the other end with something to show I did something good while I was fighting whatever it was I was fighting. So I kept working. As much as I could. ChampChase, always.

And the game that came out of that stretch is not the one you saw last time.

I did a complete visual overhaul. The whole thing — every screen, all of the UI — reskinned top to bottom so it finally reads as one coherent game instead of a working draft.

I fixed the arena. The tier system is fair now: you climb the ladder, you earn your place in it, and the game actually rewards you for competing instead of just letting it happen around you.

I rewrote a lot of the story. This is the one that matters most to me. The old version was polished — everyone supportive, everyone playing along, all of it smooth. That's not how it goes. Not with the things this story is about. So I made it real, as close to the truth as I could get it while protecting the people who are in it.

And the world reacts to you now. There's a whole layer of events that fire based on where you are and how you're doing — a bad streak, money tight, a story beat landing — so the world pushes on you instead of just sitting there waiting.

The fighters got the same treatment. New looks across the roster, and the rivals each got their own special pass — new models, new animations, their own story, and every line of it voiced. Because it's all voiced now. Every scene.

That's the game. This is what it is, and for now this is what it'll be, and I wouldn't change a thing about it.

Where it goes from here: the 1.0 build is in Apple's beta review right now. When it clears, it ships. The Android build is already live — and if you're on Android, I genuinely hope it works, because I don't have a real way to test it myself. If it's broken, email me. Screenshot it, tell me what went wrong, and I'll do what I can. I can't promise I'll reproduce it, but I'll try.

I might put it on the App Store exactly as it stands — AI art, AI voices, all of it. I'm not waiting around forever for funding that may never come. I'd rather it be out there, in the hands of anyone who wants to play it.

I'm still working out the price. Maybe it's free. Maybe it's cheap. I don't know yet. I'm not expecting to make real money off this — that was never the point. It's a portfolio piece. That's how I framed it for myself going in. It'd be sweet if it made something. That's not why I did it.

I'm not going to tell you what the game is about. If you play it, you'll feel it. Saying it out loud here would only undercut it.

Thank you to everyone who was part of this, and everyone who believed in me. Whatever happens with it, I hope it reaches somebody at a time they need it most. That's the one thing I actually want out of it.

One more thing, then I'll sign off. In about two weeks I'm going away for a month. I've been calling it summer camp because it sounds nicer, but it's rehab — a month-long program, full isolation, no phone, no nothing. I'm hoping I walk back out a different person. The first day of the rest of it. I think it's going to go that way.

It's been a rough stretch. There's no way to sugarcoat it. But I see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's at arm's reach, and I'll do what's in my power to grab it and not let go. Good things are happening, and I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Stay safe. Enjoy every moment, and strive to be the best version of yourself, day after day.

Every day you wake up is a gift. Don't take it for granted.

Thank you for tagging along for the journey. It's been one hell of a ride.

We fight to see another day.

See you out in the ring.

Ed.
